On the day after Candlemas, the church celebrates the memory of the righteous Simeon. He was among those seventy erudite, wise men, who were ordered by the king of Egypt, Ptolemy Philadelphus, to translate the Greekscriptures of the sacred books of the Jews for the Alexandrian library. On this day in the village of Maximivka, Poltava region, the Simeonovsky temple celebrated the feast. The rector of the temple is Archpriest Yevgeny Poltavets. With the assistance of the PO " Pavlichenko Brothers Fund’’, the holy bread was bought in the Ionian Monastery of Kyiv for the celebration, as well as funds were allocated for the festive meal.
