New Year's parable
On New Year's Eve, a pious woman saw three elders passing by her house. She went out and invited them to stop for the night and have dinner with her family.
But the sages answered:
- Our name is Wealth, Luck and Love. Usually we don’t visit the house all three of us, go and talk with your husband, which of the three of you would like to invite to your house on this festive evening.
The husband was very happy about this news, and decided to invite Wealth into the house, his wife liked the old man named Luck, but their child asked the parents to invite Love to their house.
Parents decided to give the child a New Year gift and fulfill his wish by inviting a sage named Love to the house. However, as soon as he entered the house, the others also followed him and sat down at the common table.
“How so,” the parents asked, “you said that you only visit one at a time?”
“Yes,” the sages answered, “Wealth and Luck usually go only one at a time, not taking the others with them, but when Love is invited to the house, she takes with her all her friends, including Wealth and Luck. . .
