Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos
There is one wonderful legend about the Most Holy Theotokos, about her kindness and generosity.
Once the apostle Peter comes to the Lord, to whom the Lord entrusted the keys to the gates of paradise, and in great anxiety and bewilderment says:
“Lord, may Thy wrath pass away from me. For several days now, I have noticed people in paradise who were not allowed to enter the paradise gates. How did they get here? "
They went to the pomegranate grove and saw the Most Holy Theotokos behind a bush of blooming roses.
She stood on a steep cliff and looked down at the ground.
In her hands the Queen of Heaven was holding a thin blue ladder, which She lowered down.
And along this spider-web ladder from the ground, crying, groaning and ardent entreaty, the worn out, exhausted people climbed up and with tears of joy scattered across the heavenly bushes.
With each saved, the Lady raised her beautiful hands up and prayed:
“My Lord and God! You see, hear and know everything. By Thy ineffable mercy, forgive Me for violating the wise orders of Thy radiant paradise. But I lived on earth, and I myself am a mother. So can I refuse a mother pleading for her son? And am I not the mother of all weak, suffering people? Forgive My sin! "
Then the Lord Almighty put His hand on the shoulder of the shocked Apostle Peter and said: “Let's go from here on the sly. You and I have nothing to do here. "
