Celebrating the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Kiev community of the deaf

The Kiev Orthodox community of the deaf was founded on October 24, 2004 and this year celebrated its 15th anniversary.

Guests from different regions of Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, and Crimea arrived at the holiday. The celebration took place from October 18 to 20. Translators, priests, volunteers worked. For the hearing impaired, various trainings and discussions, excursions were held. A concert was held at which deaf and translators performed poetry and songs in sign language. All took part in the Divine Liturgy, in which priests themselves translated the words of worship.

For three days, joint meals were arranged. Tea at the Ioninsky Monastery was funded by the Pavlichenko Brothers Foundation. A lot of joint communication, sharing experience, talking about leisure, making new friends, talking with priests, conciliar prayer and participating in the Sacraments of the Church were accessible to people with hearing impairment. Many thanks were received from them. During the celebration, they managed to become near and dear, one Orthodox family and the tears of experience and joy did not leave many people at the liturgy.

May the Lord send strength and patience to all who work in this field of unity, education, spiritual nourishment and enlightenment of people with disabilities.
