Advice from wise elders: what not to talk about
1. The first thing that must be kept secret, the sages say, are their far-reaching plans. Keep your mouth shut until this plan is fulfilled. Any of our ideas are not only not ideal, they have a huge number of weak points that are very easy to hit and destroy everything.
2. The second thing the sages recommend is about their charity. A good deed is a great rarity in this world, and that is why it must be protected like the apple of an eye. Don't praise yourself for doing good. Pride will immediately see and take away all the good that came as a result of this charity.
3. The third thing the sages do not recommend spreading about is their asceticism. Do not talk left and right about your dietary restrictions, sleep restrictions, etc. Physical asceticism is beneficial only if it is combined with the emotional component.
4. The fourth thing to keep silent about is your courage, heroism. Someone receives external tests, and someone internal. External trials are visible, so people receive rewards for them, but no one notices the overcoming of internal trials, therefore no rewards are given for them.
5. The fifth, which is not worth dwelling on, is about spiritual knowledge. Spiritual knowledge has different levels and should be revealed only upon reaching a certain level of purity of consciousness. The main mistake of a beginner bearer of truth is the desire to share too high spiritual knowledge, which, instead of bringing good to a person, only confuses and even frightens him even more.
6. The sixth thing that should not be especially shared with others is to talk about your domestic conflicts and your family life in general. Remember: the less you talk about problems in your family, the stronger and more stable it will be. A quarrel is getting rid of negative energy that has accumulated in the process of communication.
7. The seventh thing that is not worth talking about is the ugly words that were heard from someone. You can stain your shoes on the street, or you can stain your consciousness. And a person who, having come home, tells everything that he heard from a fool on the way, is no different from a person who came home and did not take off his shoes.
