Sparrow

Two little sisters, after listening to the biblical story about the expulsion of Adam and Eve from paradise, told the pope:

- Dad, if Lena and I were in paradise, we would not at all eat the fruit of knowing good and evil. God did not allow him to touch, did he, dad?

- True, - the father smiled and put the children to bed.

In the morning, Dad got up first, caught a sparrow in the yard and put him in an opaque saucepan. Having awakened the girls, he showed them a saucepan, which he put on the sill of an open window in the kitchen and said:

"Please do not remove the lid from this saucepan until I come home from work." When I return, I will show you the surprise that is there. If you are obedient, I will buy you a new game.

Dad left with his mother to work, and the children were left alone at home. With all their might they tried to distract themselves from the pot in the kitchen. They have long been outplayed in all the games that they knew, but curiosity did not give them peace - very much wanted to look into the pan. In the end, the eldest Masha persuaded Sister Lena, who was still afraid that her father would swear, look into the pot.

"We'll only look one eye and close it," she said. Dad does not even know.

But as soon as Lenochka lifted the lid, the sparrow flew out of the window. Frightened, the girls slammed the already empty saucepan. In the evening my father returned, and when he saw that the saucepan was empty, he said:

- Well, little Eve, - could not stand it, they released the bird. That's how Eve could not resist not to try the fruit of knowing good and evil.

"Dad, what kind of tree was that, and why could not you eat it," asked Masha.

- The tree was ordinary, and the fruits were edible, but, violating the prohibition of God, the first people themselves, as it were, chose evil instead of good, because all evil begins with disobedience, and with obedience everything good that God has taught the first people, were obedient. This sparrow was for you today a tree of good and evil, and you also disobeyed me. The test of Adam and Eve was not in your power.
